Depression is like a crippling disease,

slowly spreading as an inconspicuous nuisance

What starts out as apathy quickly changes into swinging blues

Fluctuating as a barometer,

experiencing fleeting moments of highs

followed by eternities of lows, even as

willful wishes won’t change a damned thing.

It isn’t a crippling disease; it’s a parasite

sucking me dry until I plead for a death that never comes.

Author’s Words for Thought

“Depression is the constant feeling of being numb. Being numb to emotions, being numb to life. You wake up in the morning just to go back to bed again.” -Healthy Place
