I look at your eyes and see something unrecognizable
Disgust and malice creeping across your facial features
It burns me alive on the inside to see such an expression
Wondering at times if it’s enough to melt that frigid gaze

It isn’t,
As hard as I try to change things.

I attempt to offer you the world, but it’s never enough
Harshly thrusting your lies and rejection in my face
It feels like tiny pinpricks as the skin goes numb
And I can’t feel those pinpricks anymore

I want this to end,
But I’m too cowardly to finish what I started.

Author’s Words for Thought

“I am a stranger when I stare into the eyes of those I love. Look away in disgust, protect yourself from the sight of my deception.” –Counterparts
