Bitter Pill

Swallow your mistakes
Choking down the bitter taste
Everything you do, every choice you make
Only add to a facade destined to break

Shoot yourself in the foot with your deceit
Limping along the long road of lies and tragedy
The end destination is defeat
A self-fulfilling prophecy you’re too conceited to see

Swallow the pill and the poison
Choke on it as you convulse from conniptions
Lash out at everyone who isn’t culpable
And drown in shallow convictions

Give up and take your last breath
As you suffer alone and choke to death.

Author’s Words for Thought

I’ve been listening to the Acacia Strain and the band’s lyrics influenced this poem. Might be a little too misanthropic, but ah well.
